Setting up a new Airbnb requires attention to detail and a focus on essentials that ensure both guest comfort and property security. Here’s a streamlined approach to getting your Airbnb ready for guests:

I personally have this same setup on 4 of my Airbnb’s and my event venue in huntersville nc and I highly recommend.

  1. Internet Setup: The first step is to ensure your property has a reliable internet connection. This is crucial not only for your guests’ convenience but also for the operation of smart devices, including security cameras. Choose the best internet provider in your area and choose the highest bandwidth package.
  2. Security Camera Installation: Among various options, the Blink camera from Amazon emerges as a top choice for Airbnb properties. I have tried various contenders that have a higher price tag, and every one of them miserably failed with battery life, or maintenance or hard to setup. With a $10 monthly subscription (this might vary by the time you check, but regardless it’s worth every cent), it offers unlimited cloud upload and live streaming capabilities with audio. Installing a security camera like Blink first allows you to monitor your property remotely, making it easier to manage deliveries and setup processes.

Essential for your security camera setup are three items: an Outdoor camera, an Indoor camera for shared spaces when renting by room, and the Sync module linking everything. The Indoor camera is optional for single-guest whole Airbnb rentals. However, for properties with multiple bedrooms rented individually, Indoor cameras in common areas like halls and kitchens boost security. Disclosure of all camera placements is mandatory.

To fully utilize these cameras, you’ll need both the camera units and the Sync Module. The Sync Module is a crucial component that connects your cameras to the internet, allowing them to work seamlessly with your Amazon account.

Key Points to Consider:

  • Camera and Sync Module: The Blink Outdoor 4 cameras require a Sync Module to connect to the internet. This setup enables the cameras to communicate with your Amazon account, allowing for remote monitoring and management of your property.
  • Amazon Subscription Plan: While the cameras are designed to work with an Amazon subscription plan, which offers additional features like unlimited cloud storage and enhanced functionality, it’s not mandatory for managing a single property. A free Amazon account can suffice, providing access to basic monitoring features without the need for additional subscription costs.
  1. Ordering the Blink Camera: Purchase the Blink camera and prioritize its setup. This enables you to keep an eye on your property and ensures that subsequent deliveries, such as bedding, kitchen essentials, and laundry equipment, are securely received.
  • Security Measures: Beyond the Blink camera, ensure your property is safe for guests. This might include secure locks on doors and windows, a safe for valuables, and clear instructions for emergency situations.

By following these steps, starting with the internet setup and security camera installation, you can efficiently prepare your Airbnb property. This not only enhances guest experience but also provides you with peace of mind knowing your property is secure and well-equipped.
